Elocon Cream is administered to remedy infections of the skin such as allergies, rash, psoriasis, eczema, etc. by reducing inflammation, redness and swelling. A corticosteroid of medium strength, Elocon Cream is available in the form of a lotion, cream and ointment. Basis the body part that’s being treated, the doctor will fix the type of Elocon Cream.
Don’t use Elocon Cream on parts of the body such as the groin, face, underarms or even for diaper rashes, unless so directed by the doctor. After drying the area that has been affected, use the medicine on it as instructed by your physician. Make sure not to bandage or tightly cover the affected area. Apply this medicine every day for maximum benefits. However, don’t overuse the medication or stretch the time period for which it has been prescribed by the doctor in the very first place. Report to the doctor if you don’t notice any improvement even after 2 weeks of treatment.
A stinging, itching or a burning sensation might be experienced that usually doesn’t last long. If these side effects persist, let your doctor know. Other rare but serious adverse effects of using Elocon Cream include folliculitis, acne, thinning of the skin, discoloration of the skin, stretch marks, etc. Though very rare, there does exist the possibility of the medication being absorbed by the body’s bloodstream. This is possible with excess usage or topical application over large parts of the body. This could result in side effects such as weight loss, extreme fatigue, swelling of the feet and ankles, vision clarity issues and increased thirst and urination. Any allergic reaction of the body towards Elocon Cream is very rare.
If you suffer from conditions such as diabetes, a weakened immunity or impaired blood circulation, you must let your doctor know immediately before starting to use Elocon Cream. Remember that skin infections can be worsened with constant usage of corticosteroids. So it is best to let the doctor know about any such problem that you may have beforehand.

- Allergic rhinitis
This medicine is used to treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Symptoms may include runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing etc.
- Nasal polyps
This medicine is used to treat the symptoms of nasal polyps (swelling of the lining of nasal passage and sinuses).
- Asthma prophylaxis
This medicine is used for the prevention of symptoms associated with asthma (caused due to swelling and irritation of the airways leading to the lung). Symptoms may include breathing difficulty, coughing, and tightness of the chest.
- Allergic skin conditions
This medicine is also used to treat the symptoms of allergic skin conditions like dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis etc.
